1st @PKRA New Caledonia!! and riding boots!!

Yesterday was a great day for me, managed to win my 1st competition this year. Gotta say it feels great when you win, specially after fighting so much with Youri during the year. I’m pretty stoked with this 1st place!!
As you could see, I already did a competition in boots in Brazil, but this is the first time someone wins a PKRA wearing them, so I’m really happy to be a part of kiteboarding’s history. I’m sure we are gonna see more of that now as the gear has evolved so much and boots helps our riding a lot now. It was a hard decission that I did, when I started riding boots full time a month ago, speacially because people was doubting that I would do good in competition on them, but here is the proof. I’m glad to see so many people happy with this 1st place I’ve just got!
This competition went out perfect for me, managed to win every single heats with 3-0 decissions, and most of the heats I had were really solid landing switch and regular S-mobe 5, back mobe 5, front blind mobe, blind 315, switch and regular back mobe and kgb, 2 s-bend to blind… and some other things, so that was definitely a good help.
Also the 2011 rankings came out as well putting Marc Jacobs in 3rd place, me in 2nd and Youri Zoon in 1st place.
This win means a lot to me and will keep me really motivated to go for a 1st place overall next season. Wanna give an special thanks to my sponsors and all the people that followed me and commented on my Facebook,

Are you not more likely to hurt yourself with boots? I mean, if something goes wrong, then you´re stuck to the board… I have never tried kitesurfing with boots, but it´s maybe better than standard foot pads?
I don’t think you will hurt yourself more. At the beginning crashes can be more painful because you are used to loose your board on crashes. You just have to get used to it and let go the bar on every crash, then they will be smooth!
